¡¡¡¡Zhejiang Provincial Museum is one of museums
built earliest in China. It has had a history as long as
more than 70 years. Since expanded in 1993, the new museum
has attracted a large number of visitors here for its unique
gardened design and special geographical location. In recent
years, it has held nearly a hundred exhibitions of cultural
relics and calligraphy and paintings in cooperation with
other museums and memorial halls. For example, ¡¶Central
Plain Magnificence¡·with Henan Museum,¡¶Embracing Luck--Cultural
Treasures from Snowy Platue¡·with capital museum,¡¶Authentic
and Fancy Calligraphy & Drawings of Ancient China¡·with
Shenyang Palace Museum, ¡¶Selected Ceramic Pillows¡·with Guangzhou
Southern Yue Emperor Tomb Museum and ¡¶Imperial Pottery--Great
Ming Dynasty Chenghua Inherted Treasures¡·with Jingdezhen
Ceramics Archaeological Institute etc, which have achieved
satisfactory results no matter on aspects of relics grades,
artistic levels or popularity among visitors. Our museum
has enjoyed great fame at home and abroad. Since its construction,
it has been frequently invited by museums and art galleries
of countries and areas of Japan, France, Singapore and Hongkong,
to hold exhibitions including ¡¶Zhejiang Historic Relics
Show¡·, ¡¶Zhejiang Celadon Show¡·, ¡¶Rare Treasure Exhibition
of Zhejiang Cultural Relics¡· and ¡¶Works of Zhejiang-origin
Artists of Qing & Ming Dynasty¡·etc. It has accelerated
cultural exchange activities of Zhejiang outwardly.
¡¡¡¡Along with development of the times and progress of the
society, spiritual and cultural demands of the public has
lifted greatly, and the audience has also changed requirements
on exhibitions. Therefore, it asks for more of development
of museum undertakings. Traditional display methods and
monotone exhibition content of the past can not satisfy
new demands. How to finish temporary exhibitions, increase
exhibition content and vitality are important aspects of
the Museum's efforts in the future. In order to combine
basic exhibitions and temporary exhibtions organically,
Zhejiang Provincal Museum made oriented deployment on temporary
exhibitions under supervision of museum leaders at the beginning
of 2000. And in course of practices, a way of exhibition
which catches up with times and is original and unique has
been developed. The museum is reframed, former exhibition
department in charge of exhibition form programming and
deployment; and a planning department especially assigned
for content programming and promoting of temporary exhibitions,
and introduction and recommendation of selected works exhibitions.
In Mar. 2000, ¡¶Special Exhibition of Series of Works of
China Art Masters of 20th Century¡·encountered warm acceptance
of all sides of the society. These serial special exhibitions
have displayed works of 12 masters such as Wu Changshuo,
Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Li Keran and Huang Binhong, which
is still initiative in China for its high grade and master
number. On matter for content arranging or form programming,
ideal results have achieved and the audience been striken.
It gave a good starting for lifting exhibition levels to
a new stage. In Sept, ¡¶Embracing Luck--Cultural Treasures
from Snowy Platue¡·cooperated with capital museum has shown
more than 300 Tibet Buddhas and religious articles, which
made a hit and became highlight of special reports of Zhejiang
Daily. In the meanwhile, being precedent in museums of China,
it launched newspaper advertisement and bus advertisment
by mode of commercial operation. Additionally, it innovated
boldly for exhibition hall programming, making display items
in great harmony with the surroundings. Entering the hall,
what comes first before your eys is spray drawing of Budala
Palace, with its blue tone, bringing one as if to the mysterious
and ancient Tibet. The lights cast softly upon buddhas and
religious articles. And along the passways of exhibition
hall, Tang card filled with thick Tibet characteristics
hang. Viewing in such an environment, interests of the audience
are lifted and and prominence also given easily to cultural
relics on show and their artistic values. After that, our
museum has pushed a series of exhibitions of selected works
such as ¡¶2002's Cultural Relics of Zhejiang Museum¡¤Selected
Artworks Special Exhibition¡·and ¡¶Special Exhibition of Series
of Works of China Art Masters of 20th Century¡·etc. successively.
Gradually, these exhibitions have established excellent
brand for temporary exhibitions of Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
Various types of cultural relics, calligraphy and drawings
and artworks pushed from 2000 to 2002 have attracted a great
number of professionals and lovers of cultural relics and
arts to visit, gaining a box income up to more than 2 million
RMB Yuan, as well as excellent both social benefits and
economic benefits.
¡¡¡¡Temporary exhibitions have become important bridge of the
museum to exchange and cooperate with the outside, which also
played an active role in carrying forward excellent traditional
culture of China, enriching exhibition contents, increasing
appeal of the museum to all circles of the society, pushing
patriotism education and socialism spiritual civilization
construction, strengthening exchanges among museums, sharing
museological resources and enlarging its fame. As for Zhejiang
Provincial Museum itself, holding temporary exhibitions has
driven working enthusiasm of the staff fully, improved their
business levels, developed this team and powered successful
implementation of various businesses of it. |
